Hatcher Pass, Wildflowers and Romance

I want to open this post by prefacing that this wedding was an absolute dream to be a part of!  It's one of those moments when you question if it would really be that bad to include all 900 of their photos on your blog.  Jordan and Austin have known each other since childhood, and after going their separate ways they rekindled after college.  And they couldn't be more complimentary of each other if they tried.  One of the most interesting things about them is their love and admiration of the outdoors.  They hunt together, fish together, hike together, ski together..........well, you get the idea.  Jordan is one beautifully tough huntress and the couple opted to serve a moose that she shot as part of their meal at the wedding!  Austin is an avid outdoorsmen and he did his part by contributing freshly caught salmon and it was a perfect adage to their wedding and who they are together.  Their families are lovely and many of them traveled from all over the world to celebrate this special union.  Some even hailed from as far as Australia!

We were honored to be a part of both the planning and design process.  As most of you know we have a huge passion for design!  Jordan wanted their wedding to be beautiful but also understated and elegant.  We worked with Bloomsbury Blooms to create long tablescapes with mixed loose greens, lanterns, antlers and centerpieces of wildflowers.  Dallas from Bloomsbury Blooms was able to  incorporate flowers from a handful of states that were meaningful to the couple and the intricacy and thought that went into it created a stunning result.  The bride and groom's families worked create amazing pieces of furniture and artwork that was used throughout the wedding.  For the ceremony the Bride and Groom stood under a truss constructed by a mixture of their families that is now going to serve as the first piece of their new cabin and part of their new life together.  Their guest book was a "bloom" of handmade arrows that were each signed and then placed inside a beaver's left behind stump.  The couple sat on a bench made by her brother and sister-in-law and behind them stood a gleaming cedar wall that served as a backdrop to their head table.  There were so many lovely details to this day,  I could go on forever.  The best part was that the night ended with a lively dance party and not a single person was left sitting down!  I hope you'll enjoy these wonderful photos captured by Erica Rose Photography as much as I do!

A Woodland Fairytale Wedding

This couple, and their families, was such an absolute joy to get to know!  From our first meeting I knew that this wedding was going to be a treat to work on.  Emily and her mother had a vision for creating a woodland wonderland at the Crow Creek Mine.  They wanted something that felt Alaskan and outdoorsy with a fresh take on the rustic chic theme.  Emily and Tyler are a true Alaskan grown couple and it was so fun to reflect that in their wedding day!  The setting in Girdwood is lush and green and it was delightful to add pops of mint and fire engine red into the color palette for their wedding.  The Groom is an Anchorage firefighter so it was important to the couple that we mixed in elements that reflected his work.  Tyler was lucky enough to loan vintage fire hats, hoses and even vintage toy firetrucks in order to create vignettes in tribute to him.  Emily (and her entire family) are extremely creative and her father constructed a bar made entirely of upcycled wood palettes and her mother spent months personally growing flowers and collecting props to use in conjunction with pieces from Bloomsbury Blooms.   The bar was, by far, one of THE coolest pieces I've seen someone make to date.  Matt was talking about it for weeks afterward!  The details of this wedding were so personal and so much thought was put into the whys of every item used.  Mary Brunst Photography captured this day that was truly a fairytale and the Mine was transformed into something that felt magical and romantic all at the same time!

Terry + Debbie = Gold, Glam and a Whole Lotta Fun!

Debbie had a vision and knew exactly what she wanted when planning her perfect wedding.  We were just along for the ride!  She spent months collecting individual pieces to create a setting that we've never seen at the Crow Creek Mine.  Together with Bloomsbury Blooms we were able to transform a very woodsy and rustic setting into something glamorous and warm.  This couple is stylish, edgy and extremely fashion forward and it showed in every element of their wedding day.  This celebration was nothing short of fun and absolutely everyone was on the dance floor cutting a rug!  We even snuck in a few moments to celebrate out on the dance floor right along with everyone.  The attention to detail and personality of this wedding is a feast for the eyes.  Thank you Erica Rose Photography for capturing this so wonderfully!
