Do you love food trucks? I know I do! Did you know that every Thursday during the warmer months you can go to the Spenard Food Truck Carnival in the Chilkoot Charlie's Parking lot? So, why am I possibly telling you this? For starters, I'm nice and want you to know about this delicious opportunity to fill your belly with a smorgasbord of great food. But really, it's a great way to explore options for a twist on the same ol' catering at your wedding while supporting some great local chefs. Many of our couples are looking for ways to make their wedding day different and fun. Food trucks can offer that bit of uniqueness on your big day. A few years back (when we still called Minneapolis home) we spent the day with Studio Laguna Photography and Andrew Zimmern's AZ Canteen chefs putting together a food truck themed wedding. It was so much fun and such a great reminder that this is a wonderful option for your wedding! So here's the skinny on why we love food trucks at weddings:
Food trucks can take the place of catering at your wedding. - If you've had trouble wrapping your head around a buffet or seated dinner, a food truck (or two) might be a great option for your wedding. You can host a variety of foods that cater to many different tastes. This also saves you time and money as you don't have to worry about guest food selections, seating charts, escort cards or place cards. They also use disposables so this saves a little bit on rental costs. Food trucks make the atmosphere relaxed and fun! Guests can nibble, mingle and nibble more at their own pace.
They have dessert food trucks. - Ok. Let me repeat myself. They have dessert food trucks! There's nothing I would love to see more at a wedding than a cupcake or funnel cake food truck pull up. Um, I'll have one of each please........... If you'd like, you can still have a wedding cake for ceremonial purposes, but instead of a large dessert display (and spending lots of money on props for that display) you can offer a variety of awesome and locally made desserts. This tends to go over very well with guests!
Food trucks can cater a killer late night snack! - Late night snacks are almost a "must" for most of our couples. It's a great way to get a bit of food into the stomachs of everyone who's been visiting the bar over the last five to six hours. And, maybe it's just me, but a bit of greasy fresh food tastes fabulous after partaking in a few drinks! There would be nothing more fun than seeing a food truck pull up over the last portion of your event and open it's window for service. And it's almost an activity in and of itself. Everytime I've seen this done at a wedding people have raved about how fun and unexpected it was!
If you're considering doing something different for your wedding, I highly recommend exploring the food truck option. The Spenard Food Truck Carnival starts up again in March. Go eat, explore, and enjoy!
